FAQ

WHAT IS CHIROPRACTIC?

Chiropractic is a branch of the healing arts, and as a science is based on the premise that good health depends, in part, upon a normally functioning nervous system. Body structures such as cells and organs function by the impulses carried through nerves. When these nerve impulses travel uninterrupted, the organs and cells of the body are able to function normally. When there is impulse interference (too much or not enough nerve supply), the tissues or organs cannot function properly and a state of malfunction may begin, predisposing the body to a disease state.

The spinal cord has 31 pairs of spinal nerves that exit from the spinal column. The most delicate and important organs of the nervous system are encased in a hard bony covering composed of the skull and spinal vertebrae. Although the spine offers support and protection for these vital nerves, it can also cause interference with the flow of nerve impulses.

Chiropractic teaches that within the body there is an "inborn tendency" to try to maintain a state of good health. This innate intelligence is working in your body all the time. The body has the ability to function and keep you well, provided there is no interference. The body is capable of maintaining health provided it is given proper essential ingredients, namely; adequate nutrition, water, rest, clean air, and a properly functioning nervous system.

Chiropractic teaches that health is not a commodity that can be purchased in a tablet or bottle. If it were, there would be no sick millionaires. Health can only be obtained and maintained by allowing the natural recuperative powers of the body to function unimpaired. Locating minor spinal deviations early, before they interfere with a proper functioning nervous system and produce symptoms, will greatly assist your body in remaining healthy.

Dr. Schneider, D.C., does not elect to utilize drugs or surgery in his practice. However, there are times when he will recommend that you consult another practitioner if methods of treatment are needed
